Mary Walker advertising card, about 1910
The only woman to receive the Congressional Medal of Honor, Walker served as a Union Army surgeon during the Civil War and spent time in a Confederate prison. After the war Walker toured the country speaking on women's rights and dress reform. In 1974 her grandniece donated a collection of Walker material to the Smithsonian, including this advertising card used on the lecture circuit.
